Your trust matters to us, including your privacy. This page explains what information we collect, why, and how we keep it safe. EcoWater Nova Scotia handles your personal information in accordance with Canada's Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act (PIPEDA).

Information We Collect

When you contact us through this website (for example, by submitting our consultation form), we collect the details you choose to provide:

  • Your name
  • Email address
  • Phone number
  • Any message about your water or your water treatment needs

We collect this information to respond to your enquiry and to provide the water testing and treatment services you ask about.

How We Use Your Information

We use the information you provide for these purposes only:

  • To respond to your inquiry or request for a water test
  • To arrange water testing and provide consultation
  • To follow up on your water treatment needs
  • To comply with legal obligations

We do not sell, share, or disclose your personal information to third parties, except as needed to fulfill your request or as required by law.

How We Store and Protect Your Information

We take reasonable steps to safeguard your personal information. Contact form submissions are delivered to our email inbox at ecowaterns@gmail.com. If we adopt a third-party form provider in the future, this policy will be updated to name that provider and describe how your data is handled. All data is stored securely and encrypted in transit.

Third-Party Services

Our website uses self-hosted fonts and, only if you accept the cookie notice described under Cookies below, two services provided by Google LLC: Google Analytics 4 and Google Ads conversion measurement. Neither runs, and neither sets a cookie, unless you accept.

Google Analytics 4 tells us how visitors use the site. When enabled, it records page views and a small number of interaction events (such as clicking to call, clicking to email, or submitting the contact form), together with technical information your browser sends automatically: approximate location derived from your IP address, device and browser type, referring website, and pages visited. Google truncates IP addresses before storing them, and we have not enabled Google Signals or ad personalization. We do not sell this data and we do not use it to identify you personally. You can prevent Google Analytics from collecting your visit entirely by installing the Google Analytics Opt-out Browser Add-on, or by enabling your browser’s Do Not Track or tracking-protection setting.

Google Ads conversion measurement tells us which of our own advertisements on Google Search are working. We advertise on Google, and when someone reaches this site by clicking one of those advertisements, Google adds an identifier for that click to the web address. If you accept the cookie notice, that identifier is stored in your browser so that if you later submit the contact form we can see that the enquiry came from one of our ads, and which search prompted it. What we receive back from Google is a count of how many enquiries each advertisement produced, not a list of who sent them. We use this only to decide where to spend the advertising budget. It is not used to show you advertisements on other websites: we have not enabled ad personalization or remarketing, and we do not build advertising profiles or advertising audiences from your visit.

Google processes the information from both services on our behalf and may store it on servers outside Canada; see Google’s Privacy Policy for how Google handles it, and Google’s advertising policy for how it uses information for advertising. If we add any other tracking service in future, this policy will be updated to disclose the tool and what data it collects.

Cookies

We ask before we set any measurement cookie. On your first visit a notice appears at the bottom of the page with an Accept and a Decline button, and nothing is stored until you choose. If you decline, or simply ignore it, both Google services stay switched off and set no cookies at all; the site works exactly the same either way.

If you accept, the following cookies are set:

  • Analytics: _ga and _ga_ZWQ92KJ4NJ, which store a randomly generated identifier so that repeat visits from the same browser are counted as one visitor rather than several. They expire automatically after two years.
  • Advertising measurement: _gcl_au, and _gcl_aw if you arrived by clicking one of our Google advertisements. These store the identifier Google gave that click, so that an enquiry you send us afterwards can be counted against the advertisement that brought you here. They expire automatically after 90 days.

These cookies measure our own advertising. They are not used to show you advertisements on other websites, we have not enabled ad personalization or remarketing, and we do not sell or share what they record.

You can change your mind whenever you like, and withdrawing is as easy as giving it. Use the button below to reopen the choice; declining also deletes both the analytics and the advertising cookies already in your browser. You can equally block or delete them in your browser settings, or use the Google Analytics opt-out add-on linked above.

If we add any other kind of cookie in future, this policy will be updated.

Data Retention

We keep your personal information only as long as needed to respond to your request and provide our services. Here is how we handle each type of data:

  • Unbooked inquiries: 12 months from the date you submit your message, then securely deleted
  • Consultation and service communications: retained as long as the water testing or service relationship is active, plus 1 year after completion, then deleted
  • Email correspondence: 12 months if not part of an active service, 1 year after service completion if related to your water treatment
  • Server logs: 30 days, then automatically purged

Your Privacy Rights

You have the right to:

  • Request a copy of the personal information we hold about you
  • Ask us to correct any inaccurate information
  • Request deletion of your personal data (subject to legal record-keeping obligations)
  • Withdraw your consent to us retaining or using your information
