Water Treatment in Halifax & HRM
Based in Waverley. At home across HRM.From Halifax and Dartmouth to Bedford, Sackville, and the communities beyond, we test, install, and service water treatment systems for the whole municipality, city supply and private wells alike.
Our shop sits on Rocky Lake Drive in Waverley, inside HRM, so the people who treat your water work just up the road. Every job starts the same way: with a water test.
Local, and actually nearby
Plenty of companies say they serve Halifax. Our shop is actually here, at 2156 Rocky Lake Dr in Waverley, inside Halifax Regional Municipality. Halifax, Dartmouth, Bedford, Sackville, Fall River, Hammonds Plains, and Tantallon aren’t the far edge of a service map for us; they’re the roads we drive every working day.
EcoWater Nova Scotia has been treating water here since 2000. Owner Gary Slater and our team handle everything from a single kitchen-tap drinking water system in a Halifax bungalow to whole-home treatment for a new build in Hammonds Plains. As the only authorized EcoWater dealer in Nova Scotia and Cape Breton we serve the whole province, but HRM is home turf.

And every community in between. We cover the rest of Nova Scotia and Cape Breton too.
City water and well water
HRM is really two water worlds: homes on the municipal system, and homes on private wells. We treat both, every week.
-
On municipal supply
If your home draws from the municipal system, your water arrives already treated, but that doesn’t mean you have to love it. The chlorine used in treatment can leave a taste and odour that follows you into every glass and every pot of coffee, and hardness shows up in some city homes too: spotted glassware, scale in the kettle, soap that never quite lathers.
A reverse osmosis drinking water system polishes the water at your kitchen tap, whole-home carbon filtration clears chlorine at every faucet, and a softener settles hardness for good.

On a private well
Outside the municipal service areas, many HRM homes, in Fall River, Hammonds Plains, Tantallon, and beyond, run on private wells. A well owner is their own water utility, and Nova Scotia’s geology makes testing worth taking seriously: iron, manganese, sulphur odour, and hardness are common complaints, while arsenic and uranium occur naturally in Nova Scotia bedrock with no taste or colour to warn you.
Nova Scotia Environment recommends testing wells for bacteria about twice a year and water chemistry every couple of years. We test for all of it, and we treat what we find.

What we do
One local team for testing, treatment, and everything after the install.
-
Water testing
We test in-house for iron, pH, manganese, total dissolved solids, and tannins, and refer samples to a certified lab for arsenic, uranium, and bacteria. Perform your water test with us, buy a system, and we credit your standard testing fee back toward it.
How testing works -
Residential systems
Softeners, reverse osmosis drinking water systems, whole-home UV protection, and air-oxidation filters that clear iron, manganese, and sulphur with no salt or chemicals. Every recommendation is matched to your test results, never a script.
Explore home systems -
Commercial systems
We’ve installed and serviced water treatment for hospitals, restaurants, hotels, nursing homes, and schools, including large-scale softeners and commercial reverse osmosis, and we bring that same experience to HRM businesses.
Commercial water treatment -
Service & maintenance
We service, clean, and repair almost every softener and filter on the market, including systems we didn’t sell. Brands like Kenmore, Whirlpool, GE, and North Star are all built by EcoWater, so we carry the parts and the know-how.

Questions from Halifax & HRM homeowners
Do you charge extra to come out to Halifax or Dartmouth?
All of HRM is our home service area. Our shop is inside the municipality, in Waverley, and we travel across Nova Scotia and Cape Breton beyond it. Our water test carries a standard fee, and if you go on to buy a system from us we credit that fee back toward it. Book a test and we’ll confirm scheduling and the details for your visit when we set it up.
Do you service homes on municipal water supply?
Yes. Municipal-supply homes in Halifax, Dartmouth, and Bedford are a regular part of our work. The most common requests are chlorine taste and odour, and hardness. A reverse osmosis drinking water system, whole-home carbon filtration, or a softener, chosen from your test results, usually solves it.
We’re on a well outside the city. Do you cover our area?
Yes. Well water is a big part of what we do across HRM, in communities like Fall River, Hammonds Plains, and Tantallon. We test in-house for the common issues, refer samples to a certified lab for arsenic, uranium, and bacteria, and treat what turns up. Nova Scotia Environment recommends testing wells for bacteria about twice a year and water chemistry every couple of years.
