Common Questions
Do I need a softener, a filter, or both?
It depends on what’s in your water. Hard water calls for a softener; iron, sulphur, or chlorine usually call for a filter. A water test tells us exactly what you’re dealing with, so you only buy what you need.
Will reverse osmosis really make my water taste better?
Yes. RO removes chlorine, improves taste through carbon filtration, and takes out contaminants like arsenic and uranium. Many families tell us they stop buying bottled water entirely once it’s installed.
My water comes from a well. Can you still help?
Absolutely. Much of our work is with well water across Nova Scotia and Cape Breton. Wells can carry iron, manganese, bacteria, arsenic, and more. These are all things we test for and treat.
Is hard water common in Nova Scotia?
Yes, especially on private wells and in many groundwater areas. Hard water leaves chalky scale on fixtures, spots on glassware, and shortens the life of water heaters and appliances. A water softener is the standard fix, and a quick test tells us how hard your water actually is.
Will a water softener also remove iron from my well water?
A softener can handle small amounts of dissolved iron, but moderate to high iron is better treated with a dedicated salt-free air-oxidation filter. Many Nova Scotia homes run a softener and an iron filter together. Your water test decides the right combination.
What’s the HydroLink Plus option?
It’s a Wi-Fi connected conditioner that lets you monitor your water system from your phone. Handy if you want to keep an eye on usage and performance.
